$75 - I'm selling my genuine La-Z-Boy Calvin Model recliner in Taupe (sells new for $849!). It's in good condition. Actually the leather is in great condition as I have treated it with leather cleaner regularly it's entire life. The only problem with it is the dark wood base, in the back, my friend's puppy chewed some of the wood when she was younger (not visible from the front or side, only from the direct back). Other than that it is a great buy, I just need to get rid of it because I'm moving to Portland in two weeks. It's currently at my storage unit in Oviedo, so it's ready to go! -$75 (pic is from lazboy website, color exact) $75 - Beautiful dark wood pub table (be sure to measure the space it's going into -- it's tall.. also the wood is slightly darker in person, but not much) measures: 36" x 36" x 42"H. Two Pub Stools, each have a 30" seat height. In great condition, bought six months ago and never used, just looked pretty in my apartment. In storage now in Oviedo. The legs screw off of the base of the table for easy and safe transportation! The table sold new for $199 and each chair was $99. |

Poll #1244953 Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All Dexter Morgan He's not a bad looking dude when he's not making out with other dudes. That's right... we started Dexter Season Two tonight... We've already seen the first 2-3 episodes via googlevideo when they first came out, before they got pulled, but it was nice to see them in pretty-picturevision. Boy, oh boy, do I love that show. I can't wait to see some people get iced... ZING. Wouldn't mind a Season One refresher if we ever get our dvds back *COUGH COUGH*. We have literally never watched our copy of the show. We left it to Jon, who lent it to Justin, and then the week Justin gave it back we lent it to Matt and Tamara. That's ok... We have Season Two to tank, then Carnivale, V The Series, and other crap I'm sure. *** Bonkers Week has begun. Came in three hours early today for work. HOPEFULLY I can finish my junks by Friday, so I can have Friday off, then it's work from 5am to 11am or so Saturday, and then 630pm to 1030pm on Saturday night, then 4am to 11am on Sunday. Not bad, but as Saturday and Sunday are my days off, that kinda blows. I really hope I can haul ass and get my comps done asap. Tomorrow is already freaking Wednesday! *** A CUBIT SHITTON OF CD'S CAME OUT TODAY. I only bought one though, so far... The Toadies - No Deliverance It's good! Sounds waaaaaaaaaay more like 'Rubbernecker' than 'Hell Below/Stars Above' so far. Still, it's weird coming from a bunch of gray haired old guys now. Also this week... GZA - Pro Tools Juliana Hatfield Stereolab The Stills The Ceasars (whom I left off my swedish podcast the other day... darn...) Rodriguez reissue some other junk too... I forget, but still... that's more than enough. I might bite on Juliana and Rodriguez soon, and Best Buy didn't get in GZA yet, but that's a no brainer. |

More weird crap that Amazon thinks I'll love. For a while my Gold Box was jam packed with badass junks... Maybe I bought EVERYTHING GOOD EVER OF ALL TIME that Amazon wanted to sell me. So now they're selling me drip pans. And bug zappers. I swear, I have not purchased or rated anything remotely close to this. I did however buy both Melpo Mene albums today. Here's an imeem track for you indie rockers to listen to, and by listen to I mean not listen to. Enjoy! |

work is going beautifully... well... aside from the freaking coffee pot that over flows every other day no matter how little water you put in... seriously, why should i make coffee ever? I NEVER DRINK THE STUFF! oh well. already they are sending me out to negotiate hotel contracts. i have a lot of freedom to do whatever i need to do to get things done without having to check with my boss(es). It's a great job with great people and it's only going to get better. we have 50 people right now, but we expect at least 130 by the end of the year, some of those being under me. growing growing growing! so, in short, huzzah! |

You know...sometimes games just...appear out of nowhere. Like this: Why that's a mighty fine lookin' Metal Slug rip-off you got there. And what's that? Spikey hair AND I can take multiple hits?! AND it's only $20?! SOLD! Yeah. Too bad it wasn't in GameStop's computers. *sigh* REALLY getting fed up with that guys. Seriously. If Sunsoft Collection gets a US release you KNOW it won't be in the GameStop computers and that... ...well if you know ME, that won't be pretty I ASSURE you. So yeah, Commando: Steel Disaster supposedly shipped today. Should be in stores tommorrow if anyone gets one in. Needless to say I'll be making some phone calls as that looks like a quality title. A report on if it's any good will come swiftly. I doubt it'll be Gunforce 2 levels of awesome, but it could be pretty damn badass. |

I'm new to the community... and to the whole Para Para thing. A few days ago my friend and I randomly found a few videos on youtube, learned a dance that a girl choreographed to caramelldansen. And found a whole bunch of other parapara videos. It's so much fun! we've apparently been bitten by the para-bug ^_^ Then, I found out that Youmacon (our local anime convention), is having a Para Para panel ^____^ there was one last year, or so it says but I wasn't able to go to the convention at all due to my being broke v_v I've read a few things about dvds. Are they just dancing videos, or like instructional videos? I'm very curious. Also.... there isnt by change a group of paraists in the metro Detroit area, is there? So yeah, hello all. Please don't hurt the noobie. |

Kirby Superstar Ultra Metal Slug 7 Sonic Chronicles de Blob Disgaea DS What the hell is the rationale behind setting release dates when school starts? The Disgaea series is especially guilty of this. Disgaea, Disgaea 2, Phantom Brave, Disgaea 3 all came out August 26-31. (Makai Kingdom had the decency to come out late July, at least.) Keep in mind, on average, these games take a million hours to do everything in them. We get it, Nippon Ichi, you want us to fail. |

The lump sum justified the affair. Side Note: A few of my friends did this, and I wanted to, as well. It seems easy, but it's really hard, especially when you consider you have to make a story (not just a sentence). Ann encouraged me to post this, and I highly value Ann's literary opinion, so that means it must be good. Or she was just being nice. But, I'd prefer the former ;) I encourage you to try this, too. The trick is to use carefully chosen words that mean a lot more than just one word (for instance "affair" implies that someone is married and they are now cheating - but that's a lot of words). |

| My boyfriend and I are planning on moving into the area for the winter term at Valencia. I'd be attending at the west campus. Can anyone suggest any good apartments? I've heard so many different things about the area, how metrowest has gone downhill over the years (I used to live in the area about 5 years ago). Walking/biking distance to campus would be great, but I'll take any suggestions right now, thanks a bunch! | ||||||||

as posted earlier, i apparently failed my internship. i'm going to the school tomorrow to see whats up, but in the event that i did, indeed, deserve a "u" somehow, i'll be needing to make up those credits. i was supposed to graduate after the summer, so i had everything planned to move to chicago in a month with my husband. i've taken online classes in the past where i had to actually go to the school to take the exams, which would be hard to do from chicago. i have had one online class which was 100% percent online and i didn't have to go to the school for anything. at all. ever. does anyone know how to tell the difference? is there something different in the course summary or anything? also, definitely looking for some filler class that doesn't necessarily have to do with anything. any suggestions? preferably one that i will pass easily, as i am clearly so dumb that i can't pass an internship. thanks A BILLION. |

I purchased/installed my first Mac game! I picked up the Spore Creature Creator on Amazon the other day, and was able to mess with it a bit this morning. I've got to give them credit, it's very easy to use. I was able to make some decent creatures in no time. (the monkey above is not mine...) It's limited to 'organic' items, ie. no adding clothes or weapons, but that's alright. Still well worth the $6 i paid for it. I'm sure I'll be posting more about it soon. In fact, it's so well done, I'm now seriously considering picking up the full game when it drops. I just don't want another annoying Sims experience, so it depends on how 'chore heavy' the game is. *** Today we went to Leslie and Andy's house. I didnt realize that it had been over a year since we'd seen them. We played Blokus Trigon, which I do not like as well as regular Blokus, so far anyway. It seems much easier to get your pieces on the board, and then much much harder to fit them near the end of the game. We also learned a card game called 'HonkyTonk', and it was pretty fun. A good mix of strategy and dumb luck. Plus it only takes about 5 minutes to play a game. *** We also watched TWO Netflix films today. I picked them up this morning from the post office. The first was 'A Bucket of Blood', an old '50's Roger Corman film about an idiot busboy who becomes an overnight sensation in the beatnik art world when he works a dead cat into his latest art project. It was short, but pretty good. On par with Twilight Zone or Alfred Hitchcock Presents easily. Weird seeing bonefide beatniks exalted. Then 'The Condemned' finally made its way to the top of my list, due to Netflix glitching and sending whatever last week. It's a lot like 'Battle Royale' only with convicted killers instead of high schoolers. Another interesting aspect is that it's not a secret government program, but rather an illegal website stream. They get millions to subscribe and watch the battle to the death. So they show reactions from the convicts families back in their hometowns, as well as the moral dilemmas the film crew has to deal with. That was a nice addition. It's not a great movie, but was better than I expected. Deeper anyway. *** Last night we played games, recorded a podcast, and had fondue with Jon and Nicole. It was the first time we had hung out alone with them in as long as I can remember. The fondue was alright, I guess I was more satisfied with just eating the bread and carrots and stuff on their own, not dipped in crazy cheese. It sure was a lot of cleaning. Speaking of which... I had breakfast with my mom yesterday and afterwards I was looking at the stacks of junk at their house. It convinced me to check up on my spouse and see what was going on in my own pantry. The pantry always looks messy, but Fotini says she cleans it out all the time... Anyway, while she was gone I dug deep to see just how well she is cleaning it... and that is to say, not at all. There was stuff that expired in 2004, 2006, etc. in there. Three 30 gallon bags of trash later, it was clean and non-expired. We also played some four player Mario Kart Wii. It was fun, but I was definitely off my game. Jon won most of the round, and even he and Fotini on a team made a Hail Mary play and won the battle rounds. It's a great multiplayer game. I've been thinking more about the wii in that aspect. I guess they kinda shot themselves in the foot with the controls, as well as game them their greatest asset. I still think it could benefit greatly from a conventional controller (and no, the classic doesn't count). Not to do away with the wiimote, just add a regular controller so that single player games aren't so difficult to get into. The multiplayer games really shine with innovative controls, but something like Oblivion, even Mario Galaxy is just missing something when trying to play accurately. I guess I just hate pointing at the tv. One of the great successes of Mario Kart was that no one had to point, even people sitting beside the tv, so no one had problems with the controls. Ghost Squad couldnt hang. But then in that game pointing at the screen is the best part. It's just so ambitious that you end up with one hellva mixed bag in the end. |

Hi all. My girlfriend and I will possibly be transferring in to UCF soon. Therefore, I'm not quite the typical "already-on-campus" user seen on this LJ, but I signed up because there's a question I wanted to ask about housing that I haven't been able to get a clear answer to elsewhere. Basically, it's this: my girlfriend and I have been living together for something like eight years now. We're practically, but not legally, married. Obviously, we have no intention at all of living apart when we come to school. So, what are the options for two people like us? I know there's no "official" non-traditional student housing at the UCF campus, but how exactly do the affiliated (and non-affiliated) apartments work? Would they allow two people to live in one room in any of them? I noticed that a few of the complexes, such as Addison, have single bedroom apartments - would they allow two people to live in one of those? In the event that any of these places DID allow two people to live in a room, how would that be charged - by the room, or by the person? In other words, assume that the typical price of a room in an apartment was 600/mo. If they let two people stay there, would we pay 600 or 1200 for the room? Or does that depend on the community in question? Further, am I overlooking some other housing option altogether that would be more suitable for our situation? We're hoping for something relatively private (as in, we'd have our own bathroom and bedroom), utilities included if possible, and it would also be a major boon if the place was serviced by the UCF shuttle (though we do have a car). Furnished / unfurnished doesn't matter at all. Can anyone help out with some info? Thanks in advance! |

Michael Phelps is EPIC. 8 Gold Medals in 2008. Something never done before. If anything like this happens again, I doubt it'll be in my lifetime. Usain Bolt, almost as EPIC. 9.69 in 100m, and he was already celebrating his victory 15m before he finished? I hope he isn't doping. Yeah, you guys at AFO, you can have your fun in Orlando. I had more fun chillin' with Jarbo and Ransom over at Ransom's place, and then watching those two epic achievements when I got home. |

EGAD! I've got like 3 seperate posts I've wanted to post for the past few days and I've been so indecisive I've posted NONE! So let's just start with Bangai-O Spirits. For those unfamiliar, Bangai-O was an N64 and Dreamcast game where you played a very small giant robot that could shoot 400 homing missiles at once. Spirits is, of course, a DS sequel. At first glance it's alittle offputting: The Bangai-O is a Real Robot instead of a Super Robot, the characters seem blander, and with only 100 missiles being shot you'd think it would be alot less chaotic and awesome. But pop the game in and you're actually greeted with MORE chaos than before and even the token Silly Writing that made the original famous is still present in the Tutorial. ( Read more... ) I may sound pretty negative, but believe me I love this game. In the end, Bangai-O Spirits is a fucking blast. Toolkit or not, there's plenty of fun to be had and I myself love it more than the original. It's still a Treasure title and it's still only $30. The way I look at it, most of you assholes owe them anyway due to what you all did with Gunstar Super Heroes. Oh yes. I'm STILL mad about the fact that everyone emulated it, said "not good enough", and never BOUGHT the fucking thing! YOU ASSES! GRAAAAAAAAARGH! That came out alot less coherant and structured than I wanted, but you get the idea: Afew hiccups here and there, but a fucking BLAST to play! Oh! And if you wanna give Jelly Wars a shot (or Dynasty Warriors: Macross as it should be called! XD) here you go: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Z8776U Lemme know what you all think ^_^ |

I posted a new Songs You Skipped Podcast... after nearly two months of silence... I swear, it feels like I just did two of them! This one features all Swedish artists... yet no ABBA. Sorry to the billions of people who are inexplicably purchasing the new 'Mamma Mia' soundtrack. Seriously, what is with you guys? As always, the show is in AAC, so you can skip past songs you don't like or the sound of my voice. Anyway... Speaking of which, Jon is coming over so we can record a new SuperCandid Podcast... it also seems like we just did that one, but thats mostly because we just did as the last show was suuuuper late. I keep trying to decide which film was crappier. Hey Christians, get on the stick and release some decent movies already! I think we're going to see 'Fireproof' this Friday. That should be at least on par with the last two Kendrick films... that is to say, watchable. I dunno though... I have to work my ass off next weekend, so a movie might be a stretch. Plus, it's screening deep within the bowels of hell, and I'm fresh outta sunscreen. *** I legally downloaded the new Jars of Clay EP! Hooray radio station contacts and accounts left wide open! |

I'm posting this here because most students don't know about this. The Murphy USA (WalMart) gas station on Alafaya just north of campus gives UCF students 3 cents off per gallon of their gas. Just prepay (cash or card) and show your ID and you will get the discount rate. This station usually has the lowest price in the area anyway, this makes it even better. I paid $3.59 there today, it's $3.74 at the station by my house 5 miles away. It's good quality gas. Some people don't like going to Murphy stations because of the ethanol, but that is in all of the stations around here now anyway. |

I completed an internship this summer with Adrenaline Films through the radio-television program. My grade shows a "U" How is this possible? I'm freaking out. Nobody is there on the weekends. Adrenaline has called me since then to do freelance work for them so i don't see THEM giving me the U. How else can you get a U on a damn internship? When I got my forms signed I asked Ms. Rice if I needed to do anything else and she said, "nope." Perhaps she didn't understand my question? OMG. I'm moving out of state. What the hell am I suppose to do?! |

Hey guys. So here's the deal...I want to cut my hair. I have really long hair that I keep straight and have had it this way for about five years. I'm ready to do something different. I've been thinking of going shorter for a while, and I've decided on the cut I want based on a wig I wore last year. The last time I did something *brave* with my hair, I cried for weeks because the woman who cut it made me look like I had a mullet. Every time I've done more than a trim I've always been ridiculously unhappy because every time it's looked terrible. I'm used to getting trims at like Supercuts and paying a nice round $20 with tip. I'm willing to pay more than that for a good hairdresser around the UCF area who knows what he or she is doing. I'm not going to go and pay $100, but I'd say up to $50 with tip if someone advises me this person is a hair godsend. :o) Just to give you an idea, this is how my hair looks now: ( Me now. ) And this is kind of close to what I want it to be: ( Goal. ) If anyone can recommend a good hairdresser in the area, I'd be very grateful. Price ranges, too, and whether or not I should/have to make an appointment. Just for the cut, though - I'll dye it from a box, I'm too cheap to care about that, lol. And PLEASE - go ahead and tell me if you think the cut looks terrible on my face, if you'd recommend getting the bangs, etc. - I'd rather get some honest opinions telling me it looks bad before I go and make the leap. :o) Thanks, guys. |

I forgot to mention that we watched "Harold and Kumar go camping in jail while scared stupid" the other day. It was ok, but quite a bit of a let down. I really liked the first film... and had delusions of grandeur for the sequel. I know... its a sequel to a pot smoker movie. Anyway, it was ok. I tried to go see Hellboy II this week, but it only had late shows. Another bummer. On a happier note... CJ7 came out on DVD this week! Helllllooooo top of queue... If Netflix ever ships me anything again. It's cool... I nabbed a fatty 15% credit next month. We just finished off 'Dead Like Me'... Finally. Good show. Not GREAT, but certainly entertaining and enjoyable. I expected a more epic ending though... I'm guessing they didn't know they were canceled. Especially since they only started exploring the universe in more depth in the last handful of shows. |

Out of curiosity, what DS games titles have you all heard were coming out in the past, only to be disappointed to find out their production was canceled? My answer might be kind of silly, but I was a bit bummed when I heard Bob Ross: The Joy of Painting wasn't going to be released anymore. Of course, the game would have probably been incredibly boring, but still! It's Bob Ross! Happy trees! And here's a kind of off-topic question: I know some of you have changed the shell/case on your DSes, but have any of you changed a GBA SP shell? Was it hard? I've got an old beat up one that I'd like to try to swap the shell on, but I don't know how difficult it would be and how likely I'd be to ruin it. |
